An academy trust of secondary schools asked me to create a scheduler teachers could use to book students for additional lessons in and outside of the normal timetable. These 'Intervention' sessions were meant to target students for a variety of reasons, they needed access to very specific personal and assessment data to assist them in making bookings. In addition to the scheduler there was a need for notifications to students and parents informing them of new bookings or changes to existing bookings. The trust also wanted a personalised profile for each student that incorporated an incentive based approach, this involved producing a way for teachers to award intervention points that served student leader boards.

This is a complex project. The website is entirely private. It is fully secure, built and encrypted to prevent unauthorised persons accessing the data. Teacher users are presented with twelve options on the home page once they've logged in.
Some of the pages process data in a complex way, all present information in a user-friendly format.
To use the scheduler teachers select their subject and class or whole cohort. This page gets it's data from the school's data management system.
Teachers book students for intervention sessions by completing a short booking form. The form is fully validated to ensure accuracy and validity of bookings
The system performs many checks to ensure the booking is possible, it does this based on existing bookings and the date which has been requested. Non term time bookings are governed by different rules to term time bookings.
Registers can be taken, effort grades awarded.
If students attend and perform well the system adds points and calculates where they appear in various leaderboards.
School leaders track how many sessions are booked and attended for each department based on the school's key improvements measures.
Attendance of individual or groups of students can be tracked by the week.
Students log in to their personal profiles to see when they are booked for intervention. They can see bookings for them, other open bookings they may wish to attend, their attendance and effort statistics and a complete intervention attendance history.
Role
Liaising with and presenting to many end users, school leaders, teachers, students and parents. Project management, investigation, design development, full stack programming, testing, system improvements, training all user types, system maintenance and refinements.
