Squared Online is a Moodle based e-learning product. Think of Moodle as the e-learning version of WordPress. You can change anything you want, including design, scripts and many other things. But instead of categories, you have modules. Instead of posts, you have activities and instead of subscribers, you have students and cohorts.

The problem with Squared Online when I arrived is that it was using Moodle as it is “out of the box”. So all that existed was the content written on a blank canvas. We then needed to create a new, simpler and more engaging experience that was mapped around the (then) current version of the content and learning criteria.

Working closely with a user experience architect, the student community teams and the development team, we took the basic version of Squared Online and turned it into a fully fledged Google product. Designed to provide the market-leading e-learning environment for a worldwide digital marketing and leadership course.

The campus is comprised of cards with modules and progress bars, within which are a series of course chapters. Students log in and work on projects, quizzes, group work and watch live classes and talks from guest speakers over 4 months. They can interact with other students, their tutors, the community and support teams and above all, get the best e-learning experience on the market. All of this can be done from their mobile, tablet or desktop.

The feedback from the students has been positive all round, and the design is always developing.
