Dream Haiti Non-Profit WordPress Website

The faith-based organization Dream Haiti is active in educating and empowering communities in Haiti through vocation-based training and in-person collaboration to meet local needs. Having worked closely with Lossless Creative Studio on several design projects previously, including sponsorship cards and the organization's logo, they understood the need for a custom redesign on WordPress that would better capture their mission values and management needs compared to the free web builder they had been using. Central to the design was the tagline of the organization, “We are the dreamers”. This statement was coupled with a playful picture of two young Haitian girls smiling and looking right into the viewers eyes. It acts as an emotional appeal to the statement reminding the user of the potential they have as people, and because of the gaze of the subjects in the image, is very direct. The intention was to create something that clearly identified the conflict (these girls have great potential and are happy, yet likely live in poverty) as well as a solution (supporting them), and beckon users to participate. The site was designed with large sans-serif typography, smooth icons, and bright colors. Previously the organization had used a lot of blue and gray but wanted to move away from the cold look in favor of something warmer.
