A key piece of functionality I wrote was the search. This required Projects and Freelances to be filtered based on their relevance to the search query. To achieve this I used a mix of Apache Solr and Memcache.

I implemented the landing pages based upon designs provided by our designer. I then worked with the designer and project manager to really build a brilliant page that could drive sales.

Client Testimonial

Nicholas Tart

Before hiring Mike we had a functioning Ruby on Rails web app, but there were a number of issues. We had 0% test coverage. The site used twice as much memory as it needed. And there was a pesky bug on the home search that we couldn't fix.

So we hired Mike for two days to see what he could do. First, he fixed the home search bug that had been there for a month. Then he re-built our admin area with Active Admin. And now we're at 95+% test coverage.

The best part about hiring Mike is that he's always looking for ways to improve the site. He's put in extra hours on a number of occasions to make things perfect. Mike is a joy to work with.

My main role at AwesomeWeb was to build out new ideas while maintaining current features in an agile way. It's mostly written in Ruby on Rails, but in this project I also worked with Bootstrap SASS & jQuery.
